Bright
Ideas
By Eric Coble
May 12 - June 3, 2006
Directed by Hal Kohlman
After taking in a performance of BRIGHT IDEAS, you may
never look at pre-school or pesto quite the same way again.
Carpenter Square Theatre
presents the Oklahoma premiere of Eric Coble's wicked
comedy about parents who would kill to get ahead on May 12 -June
3 at Stage Center, 400 W. Sheridan. All performances are in the intimate
Arena Theater.
Genevra and Joshua Bradley
have had to scramble all their lives to make it up the social ladder. Now their
three-year-old son is put on the waiting list for Bright Ideas Early Childhood
Development Academy, the crème de la crème for the
three-foot-and-under crowd.

Determined to
give their son a head start on success, they cook up a murderous scheme to
guarantee him a spot at the school. After they reach their goal, they hire
coaches for Pilates, elocution, drama -- anything that
might help little Mac win the school's Golden Pony
Achievement Award. Nothing seems to stop them on their quest for developing the
perfect overachiever, and like scenes out of a farcical version of Macbeth,
their lives spiral out of control as their misdeeds come back to haunt them.

Carpenter Square Theatre is
the recipient of a project assistance grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council for
this production. Additional support is provided by the Kirkpatrick Family Fund
and Allied Arts. The show is an Allied Arts City Card event.
