Why Hanna's
Skirt Won't Stay Down
by Tom Eyen
Feb. 26 - March 14, 1998
Directed by J. Shane McClure
The great off-Broadway classic concerning Hanna O'Brien, a
half-Jewish, half Irish 42nd Street ticket-taker who spends most of her spare time
relaxing over a breeze-hole in a Coney Island funhouse; Arizona, a muscular young
narcissist who spends his time in the mirror maze; Hanna's bald sister Sophie, an Avon
Lady whom Hanna hasn't seen in twenty years, and a carnival barker complete with flashing
lights and a midway. Of course Eyen's Fun House is really an American Wax Museum, filled
with frustration more than sadness...exposing the anxiety and half-madness of the age.
