BEST IN TEN

March 23, 2024

CST's annual fundraising ten-minute play festival

features Oklahoma playwrights.

This year we honor philanthropist Lisa Reagan Love

and volunteer Ben Hall.

Best in Ten returns to CST! Help us raise funds, honor two wonderful people who are important to the theatre, and celebrate the work of Oklahoma playwrights.

The evening begins at 7:10 p.m. with a reception for sampling food from area restaurants. A cash bar will be open, too! Take time to bid at the Silent Auction or grab a bottle of wine (or two!) at the Wine Pull.

The program begins at 8:00 p.m. with special remarks for our guests of honor, Lisa Reagan Love and Ben Hall, and continues with staged readings of ten-minute plays performed by local actors.

At intermission, there’s time to give final bids at the Silent Auction and freshen your drinks, then the evening concludes with more short plays. It’s all fun, food and funds for Carpenter Square Theatre!

Carpenter Square Theatre to Host ‘Best in Ten’

After a hiatus, Carpenter Square Theatre is excited to once again host “Best in Ten,” a ten-minute play contest and festival. The special event will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the theater located at 1009 W. Reno in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma writers are eligible and encouraged to submit their ten-minute plays by March 1.

The winning plays will receive staged readings with area actors performing on the evening of March 23.

Guidelines for script submissions:

Oklahoma writers (or students from Oklahoma who are attending colleges out-of-state) may submit.

The script should be written in standard play format in at least 12-point font size. The script should include a cast list with suggested ages along with given circumstances. The author’s name should not appear on the script itself so that the selection committee does not know who has written the piece.

A separate document should be included in the submission that lists the title. author, author’s bio, and contact information (email address, phone number, and mailing address).

Scripts that are mainly visual or depend on choreography/movement will not be considered.

Scripts should have a reading time of no more than ten minutes.

Writers may submit more than one short play.

Email scripts to artistic@carpentersquare.com or mail to:

Carpenter Square Theatre, 1009 W. Reno, Oklahoma City 73106

Attention: Artistic Director

Selected writers will receive complimentary tickets to ”Best in Ten” and a gift from the theatre. For questions or further information, email Rhonda Clark at artistic@carpentersquare.com or call 405-232-6500,
