Harold & Maude

Colin Higgins

Opening Date:

September 3, 2004

Closing Date:

September 25, 2004

Nineteen-year-old Harold is obsessed with death, spending his days attending strangers’ funerals and staging elaborate mock suicides to horrify his wealthy mother. But everything changes when he meets Maude, a spirited seventy-nine-year-old widow whose passion for life is as extraordinary as Harold’s fascination with dying. As an unlikely friendship blossoms into an unconventional romance, Maude teaches Harold to embrace adventure, independence, and the joy of living. Directed by Rhonda Clark and starring John Brumley and Jane Hall, Colin Higgins’ Harold & Maude opened Carpenter Square Theatre’s twenty-first season with a moving, darkly funny celebration of life and love.
