AUDITIONS
How do I find out about auditions?
Join the e-mail list. That way, you'll automatically receive an email whenever auditions are announced.
Audition notices are also posted on the web site and distributed to the local newspapers a couple of weeks before auditions. You may also call the Box Office at (405) 232-6500 and request to be placed on the audition email list.
Can anyone come out and audition for a show? What is needed?
CST holds open auditions. We encourage anyone who is interested to come and audition. Auditions for plays are usually done with cold readings from the script. Musicals usually require a prepared song. If you have a photo and theater resume, please bring them.
Is there an age limit to audition?
There is not an age limit to audition. It just depends on the age range of the characters and what the director is looking for.
Check the web site or Facebook page about two weeks before the audition date. There should be an Audition Notice posted which will have character information and age ranges.
What are the rehearsal schedules like?
Rehearsal schedules vary for different shows. Rehearsals start 4 to 6 weeks before the show opens. Rehearsals are usually held on weekday evenings, but the director will determine the schedule based on everyone's availability. Musicals almost always rehearse for six weeks - usually starting with a week dedicated to learning the music. Plays tend more to 4 or 5-week rehearsal schedules.
Directors try to plan the schedule so that only the actors in the scene being rehearsed are called. Actors with smaller roles won't necessarily have to attend every rehearsal.
At auditions, the directors will want to know about any conflicts so they can plan the schedule accordingly.
Are the actors paid?
CST is a non-profit community theatre. Our actors receive a small stipend and complimentary tickets as a way of saying thanks for their time and effort in helping us produce our shows. Many of our actors volunteer with other area theatres as well.
