The 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner follows a John Donne scholar through experimental chemotherapy and examines intellect, mortality, and compassion. CST’s promotional text recounts Margaret Edson’s experiences working in a Washington, D.C., teaching hospital and the play’s development before its New York success. Original page references a Madison Repertory Theatre audience guide dated August 21, 2000, but no verified downloadable URL survives.
